Willie Earnest Wiggins, Jr.

Willie Earnest Wiggins, Jr., 81, of the 1100 block of Darren Drive transitioned Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Maryview Nursing Center. He was born in Nansemond County where he spent his formal years in the Whaleyville borough. He was employed at Newport News Shipbuilding, working in Department 054 Transportation for over 26 years when he retired from News Shipbuilding after 28 years of faithful and dedicated service as a Material Handler Specialist.  He was a faithful member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Portsmouth and served as a Trustee and member of the Adult Choir and Male Usher Board. Survivors include his wife of 52 years,  Dorothy A. Wiggins of Portsmouth, VA; two sons, Willie E. Wiggins, III (Casandra) of Douglasville, GA, and Alquinton S. Wiggins,Sr. (Jacquelyne) of Chesapeake, VA; three sisters, Frances Artis, Beulah Wiggins (Thomas), and Rosa Wiggins all of Suffolk, VA; brother, Roger Lee Wiggins of Suffolk; five grandchildren, Nylah, Nia, Chase IV, Alquinton Jr. and Cole. He was preceded in death by his parents Earnest Sr. and Alice Wiggins. A viewing will be held 2-7 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2019 at Crocker Funeral Home,Inc. A celebration of life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2019 at New Bethel Baptist Church, Bishop James Whitaker will deliver the message of comfort.
