Willie Randolph Whitfield, Jr.

Willie Randolph Whitfield, Jr, 64, transitioned Friday, May 1, 2020 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was the son of the late Shirley Whitfield and Willie R. Whitfield, Sr. He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where he served as Lead Guitarist in the Music Department, he also was the lead guitarist for The Southernaires of Suffolk, Va and the Original Mighty Pearly Gates of Suffolk. Willie has also played for different local churches such as Rising St. James, Antioch UCC, Little Bethel and New Mt.Calvary. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Jeanette Elliott of Hampton, VA; son, Willie Benthall; sister, Renyta Whitfield of Windsor; 3 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; a special niece and nephew, Mercees and Rakeem Johnson of Windsor, VA; two uncles, William (Grace) and Lonnie Whitfield of Baltimore, MD; a host of cousins and friends.
