On January 7, 2022 Willie Eugene Lane Sr., 66, unexpectedly passed away at his residence. He was born in Ivor, Virginia to the late James and Ruth Lane. He was preceded in death by his brother James Lane, Jr. and sister Verdine Urquhart. Willie Boy or Uncle Willie as he was affectionately called attended Southampton Public Schools and L.P. Jackson High School in Surry, Virginia. In February 1974 Willie enlisted into the United States Navy where he served 20 years. Willie was loved by his family and friends. One of his favorite past times was telling stories of life experiences and detailed stories that were passed down by his parents. Some of his catch phrases were " Stop playing games", ``It don't look good", and "Right on". His favorite team was the Washington Football Team formerly known as the Washington Redskins. He leaves to cherish his memory his sons: Willie Lane, Jr. (Erica) Portsmouth, Virginia; Adam Lane (Pearl) Atlanta, Georgia; Andre' Dove, London, England; Bonus son Dominique Johnson (Ieshia), Portsmouth, Virginia. A devoted friend: Jessica Overton, Portsmouth, VA. Four grandchildren: Jaylyn, Jayme, Mason, & Madison. Brother: Edward Wellons Sisters: Carol Wellons, Brenda Betts, and Deborah Rice. Aunts: Florence, Joyce, and Juanita Lane of Ivor, Virginia. A plethora of nieces and nephews who loved him like gold, and a host of cousins. A viewing will be held 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2022 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Gilfield Baptist Church, 9040 Doles Road, Ivor, Virginia.
