Rev. Willie J. Covington, Jr.

Rev. Willie J. Covington, Jr., 69, of Chesapeake, transitioned Friday, June 2, 2023 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Rev. Covington was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church, Suffolk VA. Willie graduated from Suffolk High School in the Class of 1971, Norfolk State University and George Washington University. His professional career included service with the Western Tidewater Services Community Board and the Virginia Department of Health. Willie leaves to cherish his memory his wife Vivian Picot Covington, two sons: Willie J. Covington, III “Tre” and John Calvin West, Jr.; four grandchildren, four sisters: Joan C. Watford (Ernest), Betty C. Dixon, Jacqueline C. Milteer, and Dr. Faye C. Bradley (Carroll), and one brother, Clarence Covington, Sr. (Cynthia); two aunts: Barbara West Copeland and Orpah West; four sisters-in law and one brother-in law along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A Viewing will be held Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 12:00 noon – 7:00pm at Crocker Funeral Home and the Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am on Monday, June 12, 2023 at Metropolitan Baptist Church - 125 County St., Suffolk, VA.
