William Clarence Rountree, Sr.

William C. Rountree, Sr., 75, of Locust St., Suffolk, VA transitioned Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at his residence. Born in Suffolk, Virginia he was the son of the late Mamie Bullock Rountree and George Rountree, Sr. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce A. Mosley and brother, George Rountree, Jr. He was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and retired from Planters A Division of Kraft Foods in 2004 after 37 years of faithful and dedicated service. William was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church where he served in the Male Chorus, Chapel Choir, Mass Choir and Drama Ministry. He was the First President, and member of Rev. Dr. Brenda Boone-Smith and Higher Praise Community Choir of Hampton Roads and Shop Stewart Local 2426. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Sharon H. Rountree of Suffolk, VA; daughter, Felicia Rountree of Suffolk, VA; two sons, William Clarence Rountree, Jr. (LaTonia) of Holland, VA and Derek Rountree of Suffolk,VA; two sisters, Lucille M. Rountree-Hurst of Norfolk, VA and Carolyn Rountree of Hampton, VA; two brothers, Junius Rountree of Portsmouth, VA and Samuel L. Rountree of Va. Beach, VA; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 125 County Street, Suffolk, VA. Rev. Dr. Robert L. Hobbs will deliver the message of comfort. He will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
