William Isiah Privott

William I. Privott was born to the late Elijah and Minnie Privott on Sept 29,1939 in Edenton North Carolina. At an early age William helped his father tend to the family’s farm. He also attended Robert L. Vann in North Carolina for his education. William later moved to New York for work. There he met and later married the love of his life Dorine Melchior on November 1963. They were married for 56 years, and from their union they were blessed with 3 children William, Priscilla and Melissa. William and Dorine later relocated to Suffolk, Va in 1974. He worked for Newport News Shipyard and later retired from VDOT in 1980s. William later started his own lawn service company during his later years. William was preceded in death by his brothers Horace Privott, Harvey Privott, Adolph Privott, Robert Privott and Samuel Privott. His sisters Jean Watford, Doris Privott, Pearl Privott and Erma Jones. William leaves behind to cherish memory his wife Dorine Privott, three children William, Priscilla and Melissa. Eight grandkids Ciara Privott, Kevin Harrison, Selita Privott, Chantyyra Graham, Darius Privott, William Young, Nigel Privott and Shavyon Smith; 15 great grandkids; sister, Elizabeth Dawson; other relatives and friends. A graveside service will be held 2:30p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
