William "Billy" "Byrd" Henry Tynes

William "Billy" "Byrd" Henry Tynes, 74, of Brook Avenue, Suffolk, Virginia transitioned Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at his residence. He was born September 8, 1947 to the late Helen and Albert Tynes. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Shirley Tynes, Lilton Tynes and Burnie Macon. He was a graduate of Georgie Tyler High School and retired from Planters Peanut Company after 34 years of faithful and dedicated service. He was also employed with the Western Tidewater Community Service Board. He was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church where he sung in the Male Chorus. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife, Virginia Tynes of Suffolk, VA; two daughters, Constance Higgs and Rasheda Cage both of Suffolk, VA; God-daughter, Sharry Allen of Suffolk, VA; sister, Helen Holliman of Surry County; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Evelyn Swann; two sisters-in-laws; two brothers-in-law; two best frineds, Walter Moore and Melvin Boone; a host of other relatives and friends. A public viewing will be held 12-7 p.m. Friday, August 13, 2021 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 14, 2021 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. Bishop Clarence Russell III will deliver the message of comfort. He will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
