William H. Hatton, 76, from Hobson, Virginia, was born on March 19,1947, and gained his wings on January 1, 2024. He was born to the late Collin (Sr.) and Carrie Hatton. He was preceded in death by his
brother Collin Hatton Jr. and Sister Corrine Eaton.
William was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many who came in contact with him.
He was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and served in the United States Army. He retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation after 40 years of service.
At an early age in William’s life, he joined Macedonia Baptist Church.
William loved his family and he made sure they knew it. He loved helping people and sharing his knowledge and wisdom with others. He enjoyed watching nature and mystery shows. He was a fan of the
Washington Commanders football team. He enjoyed fixing lawnmowers. He had a passion for gardening and was famously known for his collard greens. People would come near and far for his collard greens.
He leaves to cherish his memories with his loving, devoted wife Brenda Hatton, daughter Sheila Hicks (Corey) of Ivor, Virginia, and son William T. Hatton (Crystal) of Suffolk, Virginia. Three granddaughters:
Aaliyah Hicks of Ivor, Virginia; Emily Hatton and Olivia Hatton of Suffolk, Virginia; two brothers, John Hatton of Richmond, Virginia, and George Hatton of Mechanicsville, Virginia; Sister Brenda Baker
(Richard) of Highland Springs, Virginia; brother-in-law Fletcher Fulgham (Beatrice) and sister-in-law Pearline Fulgham of Suffolk, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A viewing will be held 1-6 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held 11a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Christian Home Baptist Church, 20123 Longview Drive, Windsor, Va. 23487. He will be laid to rest 2p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
