Wilbert Lee “Lil Bookie” Johnson, Jr. was born on August 7, 1979, and departed this life unexpectedly on October 10, 2025 leaving behind cherished memories and loved ones.
Wilbert attended Nansemond River High School and worked for Nansemond Pre-Cast Concrete Company as a Concrete Finisher, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his craft.
Lil Bookie loved spending quality time with his family especially his big sister, Sandra Johnson, who was like a mother figure to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Evelyn Johnson and Wilbert Lee Johnson Sr, his stepmother Rena Lee Johnson, his eldest son Qurante’ Budd, and his brother Steven Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children: De’Lacia Johnson, Demonte Johnson, Jkwon Johnson, Deago Johnson, and Jada Johnson; grandchildren: A’zani Budd, A’Zorie Scott, Chloe Johnson, Cali Johnson, and Na’Veah Faison. He is also survived by his sisters: Sandra Johnson, Jennifer Pierre (Francklin), Jennetta Lee, Jenita Townsend (Keon), and Jackie Hurdle; a brother; Zion Johnson; special nephews & niece: Steven Johnson (Desmine), Algernon Langston-Bright (Jevonne), Dineria Johnson (Reginald), and Francklin Pierre; special first cousins: Ryan Privott, Stacey Norman, Barry Norman, and Howard Johnson; great-niece, LeGaci Johnson; and great-nephews: Steven Johnson Jr. & Jayce Murphy. Wilbert also leaves behind his lifelong best friend, Shawn Wheeler, who was like a brother to him. A host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Family and Friends.
Wilbert will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his warmth, humor, and love for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him
A public viewing will be held 3:00-7:00pm, Thursday, October 23, 2025 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held 12pm Noon, Friday, October 24, 2025 at New Jerusalem Church Ministries. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
