Vivian Yvette Jones-King

A Time to Be Born: Vivian Yvette Jones-King was born on October 6, 1958 in Suffolk, VA to Vivian Vines Turner and the late Charlie Jordan, Sr. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Robert Lee Turner. A Time to Grow: Vivian was very proud of her accomplishments at her beloved John F. Kennedy High School. She was an honor graduate of the class of 1975 and she was a member of the John F. Kennedy High School (1966 – 1990) Alumni Committee. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Norfolk State University (1980) and Master’s degree from Old Dominion University (2009). A Time to Build Character: Everyone that knew “Yvette” as she was affectionately called knew that she always had a smile on her face when she greeted you and when she left you. Yvette was a “giving” person. She gave from her heart and she gave freely. A woman of great character, yet a woman humility. A Time to Love: Vivian was married on February 14, 1998 to Karl King. A Time to Work: After 39 years of being employed with City of Suffolk Social Services, Vivian retired in 2018. After retirement, Vivian was re-hired as a Family Services Trainer. A Time to Worship: A woman of strong faith, Vivian was a faithful member of Tabernacle Christian Church where she served on various ministries. She later joined Covenant Community Church where she was an active member of the choir and praise team. A Time to Rest: On Wednesday, October 7, 2020, God called Vivian from this earthly life to receive her heavenly reward. A Time to Mourn: Vivian leaves to cherish her memory, a loving and devoted husband, Karl King, one son, Rodney D. Jones; three step children, Monique, Delbert and Derrick King; two grandchildren, Narsi’er and Londyn Jones; her mother Vivian Vines Turner; two sisters, Charlene Budd, Mary Patrick (Henry); two brothers, Charlie Jordan, Jr. (Diane), Walter Jordan (Kesha); godsons, Kahmarrie Artis and DeMarcus Heflin; god daughters, Demeika White and Diamond Johnson; a host of additional grandchildren; brother-in-law (Norman King, Sr.); mother figure, Bessie Newsome; devoted friends, Lucille White, Marion Sherrod, Angela Heflin, Elayne Myrick, Pauline Ralph, Phyllis White and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
