Vivian Marie Bagley

On Monday, November 13, 2023, God in His infinite wisdom, who is too wise to err, saw fit to take from our midst, Ms. Vivian Marie Bagley, while a patient in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk Virginia.

Vivian Artis Bagley was born in Nansemond County, Virginia. She was a graduate of Suffolk High School.  Vivian was employed by Gwaltney of Smithfield where she retired after completing 27 years of service. 

Vivian, at an early age, gave her life to the Lord and became a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.  She later joined Greater Works Community Outreach Ministries, Suffolk, VA. Vivian exemplified her church’s mission of in-reach by outreach by serving the community through her food ministry which was dear to her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Artis, Sr. and Mabel Artis, her maternal grandparents, James Thomas Knight and Mae E. Knight, a sister, Mamie L. Artis, a brother, Stevie D. Artis, a niece Chimere Jones and her beautiful daughter, Sholanda Artis Boose.

Vivian leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Travis (Lula) Artis and Brian (Mary) Jones, both of Suffolk, VA., three sisters, Mildred Artis, Amie Artis Boone, and Barbara (Lindell) Barnes, all of Suffolk, VA., seven brothers, Raymond Copeland, James (Shelia) Artis, Cary Artis, Tobbie Artis, Eric Artis, Deon Artis, all of Suffolk, VA., and Leon (Joi) Artis, of Kansas City, MO., sister-in-law, Karen Artis of Suffolk, VA., and a special niece/daughter, Khadasia Tester of Suffolk, VA.  Also left to cherish her memory, one aunt, Esther Smith of Norristown, PA, three uncles, William Knight of New Haven, CT, Herman Knight of Portsmouth, VA and Alvin (Latrail) Knight of Suffolk, VA, five grandchildren, Travis Artis Jr, Shamari Davis, Brian Davis, Jaiden Davis, and Zaiden Davis, all of Suffolk, VA., her best friend, Tracy Jones, of Corapeake, NC, a special friend, Richard Holliman of Ivor, VA, a special sister-in-love, Linda Langston, sister-in-love, Teasha Jones, friend Tiffany Hunter and a lifelong friend, Louis Bagley, three Godchildren, Shaniya Bradshaw and Wayne Bradshaw Jr., of Corapeake, NC and Ja’riah Hunter of Suffolk, VA., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 4901 Deer Path Road, Suffolk, Virginia. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
