Mother Virgie May Benton

Mother Virgie May Benton, 82, of Dover Court, Suffolk, Virginia transitioned Sunday, August 18, 2019 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Mary M. Shearrin-Rodgers and Charlie Rodgers. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by  her husband George L. Benton; daughter, Deloris A. Benton; and sister, Shirley J. Joyner. Mother Benton was born in Isle of Wight County and was the Church Mother of Piney Grove Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Cynthia Osborne(Louis Eure) of Suffolk VAand Betty Daughtrey (Karl) of Hampton, VA; step son, James E. Tyler (Sharon) of Suffolk, VA; ten grandchildren, Keisha Sharpe (Joseph), Calvin Benton, Malinda Myrick (Keith), Tiera Benton, Alvanya Benton, Wise "Ronnie"Allah (Nyesha), Emanuel Benton, Dirus Benton, Tyechia Parker(LaTreal), and Tiffany Daughtrey; 17 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A celebration of life will be held noon, Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 4901 Deer Path Road, Suffolk. She will be laid to rest in Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive guest at 100 Dover Court Apt 1006, Suffolk, Virginia 23434.
