Valerie Lee Harris, 54, was born in Suffolk, VA on August 29, 1965 to Mildred Cooper and Cleveland Robertson. On December 20, 2019 she was called from labor to reward. Valerie graduated from John Yeates High School in Suffolk. A former employee of Smithfield Packing, Gwaltney, and Massimo. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother and friend who loved being around her family and found joy in playing cards and a die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Valerie is survived by two daughters who cared for their mother without fail as she struggled with her illness for a few years. She leaves to cherish her memories her mother Mildred Cooper and her father, Cleveland Robertson Sr.; two daughters, Latoya Robertson (Edward) and Chamiel Robertson (Travis); two sisters, Dana Harris and Melissa Veal (Eddie); three brothers, Alvin Wiggins (Charlene), Cleveland Robertson (Sally), and Ronnie Robertson (Monica); five grandchildren, DeQuan, Aamari, Noriyah, Jamir, and Travis Jr.; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2019 at New Mt. Joy Food for Living Ministries. She will be laid to rest in the C.W. Ash Garden of Carver Memorial Cemetery.
