On Friday, July 6, 2018, Tom H. Bell father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Tom will be forever missed and loved by those who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary S. Bell; daughter, Linda Bell-Hawk; and six brothers, Richard, Bruce, Claude, McKoy, Calvin, and Emitt.He was born August 31, 1924, to the late Richard and Lelia Joyner-Bell in Nansemond County, VA. He was joined into Holy Wedlock to the love of his life Mary Stevenson-Bell. He received his early education in Suffolk Public School System. His dream as a child was to always join the Navy. That dream came true, he served the Navy and received an honorable discharge. He returned home and was employed 40 years at the Naval Air Station in Norfolk, Virginia. He worked as an Aircraft Mechanic. The last aircraft he worked on was the F14 Tom Cat.Tom had a daily routine of visiting his friends and crew at McDonald's. Each and everyday Tom made his morning drive to Main Street where he was greeted with a hardy "We got you Mr. Bell" or a raise of the thumb indicating it's on the way. Tom was the title holder of "Hot Cake Man" at McDonald's His order never changed "Hot and soft" Tom leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Robbin Bell-Elam and devoted son-in-law, Eric Elam; son, Earl F. Bell; sister, Adelaide Montgomery; two nieces, Lelia Bell Manley and Valyncia C. Bell (David Faulk); 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends.A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
