Thomas Randolph Sweat, 73, of Suffolk, Virginia, entered eternal rest on Monday, January 19, 2026 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Thomas, affectionately known as “Randy” was preceded in death by his beloved parents, George Edward “Dink” Sweat and Ellen Jean Sweat, and son, Michael A. Faulk.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted loving wife of 30 years, Mary L. Sweat; his children, Corey Sweat, Caroline Sweat, Jamal Outlaw, and Tiffany Savage; his siblings, Keith Sweat (Diane) of Suffolk and Sherry Sweat of Suffolk; his grandchildren, Kylea Durham, Michaela Faulk and Mekhi Faulk, a parental Aunt Gertrude Grayson of New Haven, Conn, his Mother-in-law Mrs. Evelyn Faulk brother and sister in laws Melvin Faulk (Mattie), Jackie Jeffres (Melvin), Talma Parker, Fleetwood Faulk (Catherine), Larry Faulk, and Jeffrey Faulk, all of Suffolk, a special niece, LaRonda Morris (Andre Jr.) of Portsmouth; a special nephew Cameron (Cam-Cam) Jeffres and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who were blessed to know him.
Randy was the true definition of a hardworking man. He dedicated 43 years of service to Huntington Ingalls, where he retired as a nuclear specialist.
Randy’s spiritual life which began at home with the guidance of his parents was nurtured at the family church Palm Tree Baptist and in later years he associated with Piney Grove Baptist through his wife.
Outside of work, Randy enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, to include football. He was a die- hard Washington Commanders fan, especially on Thanksgiving Day when the house was divided as the Commanders faced off against the Dallas Cowboys. Those moments brought laughter and lasting memories that his family will forever treasure.
A public viewing will be held 2-5pm, Tuesday, January 27, 2026 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home.
