Thomas Chapman

Thomas Chapman, born to Anne Virginia Chapman and Thomas Jones. on June 26, 1941 departed this life on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, Virginia. Thomas was a native of Nansemond County, VA. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Suffolk, VA. He relocated to Asbury Park, N.J in 1971, where he became employed at Monmouth University (Long Branch, NJ as head maintenance and groundskeeper, for 20 years, where he retired in 1991. He was a great humanitarian and very giving person. He truly had a heart of gold. Thomas was an extremely family oriented man, known as an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Chapman, daughter, Gloria Chapman-Watkins, son, Thomas Chapman; two granddaughters, Jovanda "Bit" Chapman and Pebbles Chapman. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Andrew Walker(Pauline), Gilbert Chapman (Renee), Timothy Chapman, Sr. (Saranette), Kelvin Chapman (Diana), Tyrone Chapman (Elmira), Yolanda Chapman-Williams, Darnell (Dana) Chapman, Lynell Chapman; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Chapman; son-law-law, Kefee Watfkins; brother, Bruce Jones of Pleasantville, N.J;sisters-in-law, Rosa Johnson, Judy Wiggins and Mearl Boone (Robert) all of Suffolk; brother-in-law, Nathaniel Walker (Linda) of Suffolk; a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, family and friends. A viewing will be held 1-6 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2023 at Total House of Transformation House of Praise, 623 Brook Avenue, Suffolk, Virginia.
