Terry T. Hinton of Richmond, VA, born January 21, 1976, transitioned peacefully on February 12, 2024. He is the son of Thelma V. Hinton and the late Zolie Fleetwood, Jr. He was predeceased in death by his grandmother Annie Mae Brown; grandfathers: Zolie Fleetwood, Sr., James Willie Ford, and William Hinton; and his aunt Cynthia Hinton-Scott.
Terry leaves to cherish his memory his mother Thelma V. Hinton (Alphonso Britt) and siblings: a brother Herbert Hinton and two sisters, Angel C. Hinton and Zaneta Bivins Gilliam; his grandmother Margaret Hinton Warren; aunts: Sylvia Hinton Jones, Tabitha Ford, and special aunt, Velma Outlaw; uncles: Jerry Hinton, Terry Hinton and Willie Ford, Jr. (Olivia), all of Suffolk; nephews: Michael Mason (Tamara) of Upper Marlboro, MD, Dontray Binns of Suffolk; a niece Tori Gilliam of Richmond; cousins: Ayanna Harris, Anthony Jones, William Jones, Chaneil Lipscomb, Tamisha Smith (Joseph), Terra Hinton, Jernell Morris, Jarnee Williams, Ayana Eley, Lashannon Todd, Waieka Diggs, and Tyrene Eley of Hampton, VA; a special cousin Titina Hinton-Collins (Russell); and devoted friends: Nicole Porter, Tracey Snipes, Ivey Hill, Sandra Peele.
Terry was a graduate of Nansemond River High School. While in high school, he attended the Governor’s School for the Arts and sang in the Nansemond River Gospel Choir. He attended Norfolk State University as a music major and transferred to Virginia Commonwealth University as a Music/Business Administration Major. He was employed by Virginia Union as an Administrative Assistant to the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences for ten years. During his transition, Terry was employed with the Department of Motor Vehicles in Richmond, VA, where he worked for the past six years as Program Specialist.
At a very young age, he gave his life to Christ and became a member of Open Door Holiness Church, where he developed his love for singing, under the leadership of Elder David Williams. He joined the New Mount Joy Church of God in Christ, where his love for singing grew as his love for Christ, under the leadership of the late Bishop William P. Wiggins, Sr. He sang with various choirs throughout the Hampton Roads area. Leaving Hampton Roads, he moved to Richmond, VA, where he continued his spiritual journey with Minister Shawn Stovall of Voices of Praise, John Fox and New Fellowship, and Isaac Brown and the Gang.
Terry is a member of Mount Sinai Holiness Church, Richmond, VA, under the leadership of Pastor Shirley Tucker.

A visitation with family will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2024. A viewing will be held 12-7 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2024 at Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held noon, Saturday, February 24, 2024 at New Mt. Joy Food for Living Ministries. He will be entombed at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
