Teaisa Ann Chapman

May 1, 1972 — July 13, 2022

Teaisa Ann Chapman better known as “TeeTee” came into this world on May 1st, 1972 at Obici Hospital in Suffolk, Va. She was an abundance personified, a living cornucopia in human form. She was the oldest daughter to her mother Phyllis Ann Chapman and the oldest sibling to her late father Curtis Gene Simmons. It was shared growing up that TeeTee was considerate, thoughtful, resourceful, lively, blunt, friendly, dependable, sincere, and very creative. She always put forth her best effort with anything she touched. If it was worth doing at all, she’d make sure she did it well, down to the finishing touches and she did that with every facet of her existence, from personal creative projects to all aspects of her. She loved art and sports. She won first place at the State Student Art-Woman’s Club and participated in track and field and played basketball for Franklin High School, where she also graduated in 1992. She transitioned into her career, being employed at Riverside Convalescent Center in Smithfield, VA, where she was employed for 8 years until she was diagnosed with Lupus in 1999. However, she did not let that stop her journey. For the next 20+ years, TeeTee continued to embrace her journey by being a great daughter, mother, sister, niece, cousin, friend, loyal partner, and grandmother. Some of her favorite hobbies were gardening, doing others' hair, cooking her favorite foods, shopping, listening to 80s-90s music, and watching her favorite shows and movies. Most importantly, she would highly express how she loved being a mother, grandmother, and how much they have made this journey so rewarding by being able to experience their presence. She would also speak on the importance of family and everyone coming together to cherish and support one another to create an immaculate bond. On July 13, 2022, at Sentara Obici Hospital, TeeTee departed this life to live her new life with God. To Cherish her memories are her mother, Phyllis Ann Chapman, and stepfather, Loyd Chapman Jr.; two children, Zavier M. Chapman and Kenisha N. Simmons; two grandchildren, Zamari N. Deloatch and Zaniah N. Chapman; brothers: Jimmy Kindred, Dallas Simmons, and Jackie Simmons; Sisters: Charlisa Scott, Katrina Chapman, Deshay Simmons, Curlatte Simmons, and Sadie Bulter. Also, Godparents, great-aunts, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. A graveside service will be held noon, Friday, July 22, 2022 at Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
