Tabitha was born the oldest child and only girl to Valerie Taylor Burton on 05/13/1976. She was reared in Suffolk, Virginia in a close knit family where she and her cousins were all mistaken for siblings instead of first cousins. Tabitha graduated with the first graduating class at Lakeland High School in 1994. Tabitha along with her cousin Satrina Artis and Aunt Cynthia Taylor Simms graduated from Paul D. Camp Community College in 1996 and the trio again graduated with B.A. degrees from Norfolk State University in 1998. Tabitha continued her studies and received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Norfolk State University and then obtain her state licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Tabitha was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. She was a clinical Social Worker and Therapist, B.A, MSW, LCSW, CAMS-II who helped many people from all different backgrounds and ages within the community. Most importantly she was a woman of God she understood many experiences and everyday life challenges as we are faced with hardships. She knew life was not easy at times and sometimes we just needed a helping hand or words of encouragement to move on and continue to strive for a successful and productive life. She did not believe in wrong doing. She was faithful to all she loved. She went out of her way to do the right thing for and by others. She was a woman of value and respect. She never talked down on those who spoke ill against her. Her favorite line was “All you can do is pray”. And she meant just that. She lived life to the fullest. Her kind spirt and beautiful smile will be greatly missed. Let us strive to remember her peaceful spirit until we meet again.
