Sylvia "Boot" Hill-Stevenson

Sylvia Ann Stevenson “Boot Hill”, 72, of Suffolk, Virginia, born October 7, 1945, fell asleep on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at Greenbrier Regional Medical Center of Chesapeake. She was born to the late Overseer Lloyd Andrew and Pastor Sarah Queen Esther Hill, Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Stevenson; one sister, Alice Faye Hill; two brothers, Lloyd Andrew Hill, Jr. and Joseph Hill. Sylvia was the oldest child out of 9 children. She was considered the family babysitter from the late-70s to mid-90s. She loved to clean and loved to eat. Sylvia was full of life and never met a stranger. She referred to everyone as either “Big Boy” or “Big Girl”. She had her own unique style of graciously dealing with people and had no known enemies. Sylvia was a faithful member of New Saint Matthew Holiness Church until her death. She was an active worshiper and loved when the spirit of the Lord moved in the church services. Sylvia is survived by four sisters, Gloria Hunt, Ethel Savage (James), Jo Mason (Abel), Paula Majette all of Suffolk, VA; one brother, Paul Hill (Linda) of Suffolk, VA; over fifty nieces and nephews; one aunt, Claretha Thorne of Portsmouth, VA; and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be held 1:00p.m. Monday, July 30, 2018, at New St. Matthew Holiness Church, 213 N. 4th St., Suffolk, VA. Pastor Jo Mason will deliver the message of comfort and Bishop A. S. Hall, Sr. will preside. She will be laid to rest in the Crocker Funeral Home section of Carver Memorial Cemetery.
