Steve LeRoy Haskins 70, of Lake Speight Drive Suffolk Virginia gained his heavenly wings on December 29,2021 while surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Elizabeth “E.D.” Haskins. He was born and raised in Suffolk Virginia graduating from Booker T. Washington High School. Steve spent many years employed on the Norfolk Naval Base and was currently employed as a Project Manager with Virginia Building Services in Virginia Beach, Virginia a job he simply loved. Steve was known for his charismatic spirit, beautiful smile and his quick wit. He was a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan and made sure everyone knew it. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family and was happiest when all of his children were around. He was a talented singer who shared his gifts with several gospel groups The Mighty Echols, Singing Larks and the Mighty Tones. Steve leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 35 years Vonita B. Haskins, six children: Crystal Porter of Virginia Beach Virginia, Stevie “Troy” Haskins (Ashley) of Suffolk Virginia, Tawana Randolph (William) of Hampton Virginia, Daran Haskins of Suffolk Virginia, Lamont Brinkley (Merita) of Suffolk Virginia and Lucion Brinkley (Dametrice) of Suffolk Virginia. 15 grandchildren, one great grandchild, one brother Willis Haskins of Charleston South Carolina, Two aunts Evelyn Haskins, affectionately known as “MA” and MIldred Riddick both of Suffolk Virginia, One sister in law Yvonne Brinkley of Suffolk Virginia. Two brother in laws, Anthony Brinkley of Richmond Virginia and Kent Brinkley of Suffolk Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews family and friends. Steve led a life full of laughter and love. He will be missed by all who loved him. A celebration of life will be held noon, Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
