Stanley Percell Wilson, age 69, peacefully departed this life on January 23, 2026, at his home. He was born on March 27, 1956, in Nansemond County, Suffolk, Virginia, to the late Luther and Ella Louise Wilson.
Stanley proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. Following his military service, he dedicated many years to public service, working with the City of Suffolk in Animal Control and later at the VA Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. His commitment to service extended beyond his career. After retiring, Stanley devoted himself to caring for his beloved mother, Ella Louise Wilson, until her passing in 2011—a role he embraced with quiet strength, patience, and love.
Stanley lived life on his own terms. He enjoyed a good time—but never for too long—because once he arrived, it was often time to head back home. He loved his family and friends in his own unique way, and those who truly knew him understood and cherished that about him. Even toward the end of his life, while facing health challenges, Stanley continued to live boldly and authentically. He faced everything with bravery, resilience, and without regret. That is how he would want to be remembered—not with mourning, but with celebration.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Ella Louise Wilson; his brothers, Henry Lowther (Irene Lowther) and Michael Wilson; his son, Stanley Norman (“Boogie”); and his significant other, Shirley Norman.
He leaves to cherish his memory his four sons: Barry Norman Suffolk, VA, Stacy Norman (Star Norman) Suffolk, VA, Blake Norman Suffolk, VA, and Tremaine Manley Franklin VA. He also leaves his loving sister, Gaynell Almond of Suffolk, VA, with whom he shared an especially close bond. Gaynell was not only his sister, but also his devoted caregiver and rock—ensuring he was cared for, supported, and able to enjoy life to the fullest. He is also survived by his brother, Lee Wilson of Franklin, VA; eight grandchildren; his special niece, Anika Inman of Conyers, GA; one aunt, Hazel Lowther of Suffolk, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Stanley will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved him. While our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing he is now at peace and in God’s hands.
