Sinclair McCoy Ruffin

July 7, 1953 — July 27, 2020

Sinclair McCoy Ruffin, 67 was born in Suffolk, VA on July 7, 1953 and departed this earth on July 27, 2020. He was the son of William Ruffin and Fannie Perry Ruffin. Sinclair grew up in Suffolk, VA. Sinclair graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1971 where he was a Drum Major in the High School Band. He attended Virginia State University in Petersburg, VA where he obtained a Bachelors Degree in Science and Education. He also attended Clark Atlanta University where he received his Masters Degree. Upon receiving his Master’s Degree he would go on to work at Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta as a teacher for many years. He would then go on to work for the United States Department of Education as a Federal Investigator. Sinclair retired after 20 + years of service with the USDOE in 2015. Sinclair also worked as a surgical technician for the Gwinnett Medical Center. Sinclair loved to dance, he loved listening to house music, he was an avid tennis player in his youth, he loved to grill on his Green Egg and he loved spending time with his family. Sinclair was a talker. He loved spending time with his family and friends on the phone on a regular basis. Sinclair loved to travel with his friends. He went on many cruises. Sinclair was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Sinclair is survived in death by his son, Rickey Daughtrey (Carlethia) of Lawrenceville, GA, His grandson Brandon of Lawrenceville, GA two nieces, Melissa Ruffin- Stuart, VA and Rachel Stone (Ben), Grayson, GA, cousins, neighbors and friends. Sinclair had three cousins of whom he loved dearly, Valerie Ruffin, Newburgh, New York, Linda Ruffin, Suffolk, VA, and Paulette Dildy, Suffolk, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Fannie Ruffin, his younger brother Lonnie Ruffin, older brother William Ruffin, Jr. A graveside service will be held noon, Friday, Augusts 7, 2020 at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
