Sinclair Lewis of the 3900 block of Breezeport Way Suffolk, Virginia made his transition from earth to heaven on Tuesday, August 13, 2019. He was born in New Bern, North Carolina, baptized in the Catholic faith at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He received his education at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where he graduated in 1958. “Lou” as he was affectionately called, served in the Vietnam War and became a retired US Navy Veteran in 1979. While serving his country, “Lou” received the following awards and recognition: National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation. After retiring, he worked as a government contractor with QED Systems. His entrepreneurial spirit blessed him with a food-truck, which allowed him to bless numerous kids and their families throughout the community. His favorite hobbies include fishing, watching Westerns, playing Solitaire and Sudoku. He was a family man who provided laughter, wisdom, and guidance to those he loved. Preceding him in death were his parents John Westley Stanley and Mary Green Lewis, and his sister Mary Elizabeth Pollock. Left to cherish precious memories is his wife Lola Lewis of Suffolk, Virginia, four daughters— Jackie L. Canady, Vanessa N. Jackson, Adrienne D. Johnson, and Laverne Y. Lee, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Service will be held at Crocker Funeral Home Inc. located at 900 E Washington St, Suffolk, VA 23434, on Monday August 19, 2019 at 12p.m. Interment at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
