Shirley J. Boone

Shirley J. Boone of Suffolk, VA transitioned peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 31, 2023. She was 82 years of age, born December 9, 1940, in Isle of Wight County, Virginia to the late Israel Scott, Sr. and the late Odell McNeal Scott. She was predeceased in death by her late husband, Vance T. Boone, Sr.; son, Ralph K. Scott; daughter, Sonya Boone; granddaughter, Toccara P. Boone; great-granddaughter, Tynezsa Beale; brothers, Clarence Scott, Russel Scott, Israel Scott, Jr.; sisters, Lois Robertson, Annie Murry, Theresa Holliman, and Gloria Adams. Shirley lived much of her life in Suffolk, Virginia where she and her husband raised 6 children. She retired from the London Fog Industries as a presser in Portsmouth, VA after 20 years of dedicated and loyal service. She leaves to cherish in her loving memory two daughters: Patricia A. Cook (Jeffrey) and Rhonda D. Boone (Edrick); two sons, Vance T. Boone, Jr., and Eric L. Scott all of Suffolk. One bonus son, Terry Jefferson of Chicago, Illinois. Two special sister-in-laws, Janice Boone, and Barbara Boone. A special niece, Ruby Warren. She is survived by one brother, Charles D. Scott, Sr. (Rosa) of Portsmouth, VA. Nine grandchildren, Troy Boone (Melissa), Dereck Jones, Shatondra Vinson, Shemia Boone, Eric Bell, Nia Cook, Corlicia Mills, Treivonne Boone and Van'ta Boone. Sixteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. Rest in Peace....Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend. You will be greatly missed by all. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 8, 2023 at St. Paul Church, 619 Spruce Street, Suffolk, Virginia. She will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
