On Friday, June 16, 2023 an angel visited Nansemond Pointe Rehabilitation and Health Center to carry our beloved sister, Sheila Odessa Bailey home to be with her heavenly family. The youngest of ten children, born to the late William and Caroline Bailey. Sheila was a native of Whaleyville Virginia born on September 20, 1959. Sheila was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church and served on the usher board. She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Suffolk Virginia and went on to Norfolk State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts and Graphic Design. After college, Sheila worked for the City of Suffolk in their Senior Citizen Program. She later went on to pursue her dream of becoming a seamstress. She worked from home sewing for businesses and for family and friends. Sheila was very talented in fixing flower arrangements and all types of arts and crafts. She was an avid lover of her kittens. She worked as long as she could until her health would not allow her to continue. Sheila is preceded in death by her parents William Thomas Bailey and Caroline Mills Bailey, Sisters Louise Bailey Davis, Betty Bailey Dooley, brothers William L. Bailey (Billy) and Robert M. Bailey (Bobby). Sheila leaves to cherish her memories sisters Lillian Bailey Tyler, Audrey Bailey Bolden, Jacqueline Bailey Jackson and Vernessa Bailey Booth; brother Thomas Bailey (Danette); aunts Florine Bailey Parker and Glorine Bailey Strothers; a special friend Terry Hooks and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. A memorial service will be held noon, Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Mineral Spring Baptist Church. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
