Mrs. Sarah Pauline (Chyenne) Gwaltney was born February 2, 1949 to Mr. Henry Reid and Mrs. Mary Wright Reid. She was the last of five girls.
She was affectionally known as Chyenne by many and Pauline by others. She was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and retired from Verizon after 30 years of service. She was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she sang in the Mass Choir and the Senior Choir. She was a member of the Sunday School, taught children’s church, served as vice president of the Awareness Club Ministry, and as the coordinator of the honoree committee.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clifton L. Gwaltney, Jr., her sister Lucy Wiggins and Virginia Reid. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Ronald L. Holland, Jr. (Rosella), and daughter Rhonda Holland; two granddaughters, Aniqua Holland-Bryant and Alesha Holland; two great-granddaughters, Novah Moore-Elliard and Emery Smith; two sisters, Mary Drew and Catherine Vick; her niece and best friend Caroline Williams; her great-nephew and god-son Christian Vick and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A viewing will be held 2-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2024 in the chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held noon, Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. She will be entombed at Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
