Sandra "Sandy-Cake" Howell-Dunson

On Saturday, May 16, 2020, Sandra Howell-Dunson gained her wings. She was the daughter of the late Al Smith Howell, Sr. and Flossie Mae Picott-Howell. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Linda Warathan and Wanda Adedapo. She was a native of Holland, VA affectionately known as Sandy Cake. She graduated from Forest Glen High School in 1977 and Smithdeal-Massey Business College in late 1980's. She worked for the City of Suffolk for many years as a Administrative Assistant in the Voter Registration Department and Admin Clerk Office, she also worked at First Priority Healthcare as a Administrator Clerk. Before her health started to decline she was a faithful member of Laurell Hill U.C.C She leaves to cherish her memory her high school sweetheart Andy Boone who was devoted to Sandra until she gained her wings; five sisters, Jacquline Maddrey, Katrina Howell, Lora Copeland (Thaddeus), Gloria Smith and Monica Howell; two brothers, Al Smith Howell, Jr. (Michelle) and Julius Howell (Jameka); a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; special friend, Deidere Sawyer; husband, James Dunson. The Howell and Boone family wishes to thank everyone who offered prayers, cards, visits, and other expressions of love and kindness. A special thank you are extended to the following, Tilfany Winston who was her caregiver and came everyday to help her; Lora Copeland her sister and nieces, April and Jessica Copeland; Amedisys Hospice Care; Sentara Hospital and Crocker Funeral Home. A public viewing will be held 1-7 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2020 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel. She will be laid to rest in Laurel Hill U.C.C Cemetery.
