Sadie Jane Parker Faulk

May 27, 1948 — December 25, 2024

Suffolk

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them that love his appearing. II Timothy 4:6-8

On Wednesday, December 25, 2024, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Sadie Jane Parker Faulk, slipped quietly into eternal rest at her residence.

Sadie was born in Nansemond County on May 27, 1948, to the late Columbus “Buss” Parker and Pelma Edwards Parker. She was the wife of the late James Faulk, Jr. She was preceded in death by four sisters: Emma Witherspoon, Addie Parker, Orabell Turner, and Dorothy Sharpe and two brothers: Jacob “Bubba” Parker and Columbus “C” Parker.

She was a 1966 graduate of Southwestern High School and a 1970 graduate of Norfolk State University. Upon graduation, her passion for teaching began at Holland Elementary School and continued at Kilby Shores Elementary. After 35 years of teaching, she retired from Suffolk Public Schools. She touched the lives of many children and loved to see them succeed and always wanted to know how they were doing.

Sadie was a devoted and faithful lifelong member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where she served in the following ministries: Missionary, Pastor’s Aide, Bible Study and Noon Day Prayer. She served these ministries wholeheartedly, but her passion was with Sunday School. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and served as Sunday School Superintendent for 25 years.

Sadie never complained, even in her final days. She was a God-fearing woman who loved the Lord and loved to study his word. Some of her favorite sayings were “To God Be the Glory”, “Beautiful”, “Self-Imposed Misery is Optional”, and “Love You To Pieces.”

Sadie leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Devona Faulk of Accokeek, MD and Jacquelyn Brown (Kevin Sr.) of Suffolk; a son, James Lamont Faulk of Suffolk; a Godson, James “Jay” Parker; Two grandchildren, Zeandra Manley and Kevin Brown Jr. (Brianna); Two great grandchildren, Bella and Kayden Brown; a God granddaughter, Tyla Parker; a sister, Clara Ricks and a brother, Rev. Larry J. Parker (Dr. Loretta). She also leaves three sisters-in-law, Lillie Parker, Evelyn Faulk, Carrie Lee Herbert and one brother-in-law, Benjamin Faulk and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A viewing will be held 1-7 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2025 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home.
