Rufus "Skoota" Lindell Artis

Mr. Rufus “Skoota” Lindell Artis departed this earth unexpectedly on May 4th, 2022, in Suffolk, VA at the age of 31. He is preceded in death by his father, Rufus Lee Artis Jr.; His Grandparents, Lula Mae Artis, Rufus Lee Artis Sr., and a host of aunts and uncles. Rufus Artis was born on February 3rd, 1991 in Suffolk, VA to Rufus Artis Jr. and Mable Goodwin. Rufus was raised up in the Holland area of Suffolk, VA and has lived in the Suffolk area most of his adult life. He graduated from Lakeland High School in 2009, and later attended Paul D. Camp Community College. He was an avid sports player in high school and throughout his adult life; known for playing football, running track, and playing baseball. For last couple of years Rufus had a great career as a driver at MAC Transports. He was a generous and loyal individual who was always there when his friends and family needed him, and especially for his parents. He was known to have a hard exterior, but he was sensitive when it came to his mom. Most importantly, Rufus was a great father to his children. No matter the time of the day, Rufus was there whenever his kids called on him. He was a great provider and supplied his kids with unconditional love. Rufus leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Mable Goodwin (Victor Goodwin); His children, Janiia Artis, Tamia Artis, Ci’Yanni Artis, Me’Kel Gatling; His step-children Shamaria Corbett, Reyonta Bell; His siblings, Michael Spruill, Ava Artis (Jevonta Beckett); His Grandparents, Johnny Spruill, Thelma Louise Spruill; His aunts, Betty Jones (Shelly Lee Jones), Diane Artis, and three great-aunts; His Uncles, Leon Spruill ( Tonya Spruill), Raymond Spruill (Barbara Johnson), John Spruill, Johnny Spruill, two great-uncles; two lifelong friends, James Gatling and Jaron Saunders, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. A wake will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2022 at Acts Apostolic Church, 540 East Constance Road, Suffolk, Virginia 23434. A celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Gates of Heaven Church of God in Christ, 112 Beech Street, Suffolk, Virginia 23434. Apostle Dr. Tonya L.
