Rudolph V. Cross, Sr.

On Monday, August 14, 2023, God in His infinite wisdom and power, decided it was time to call his beloved son, Rudolph Valentino Cross, Sr. home. Mr. Cross was born on May 8, 1936 in Suffolk, Virginia to the late Herbert and Cornetta Cross. He was preceded in death by his wife Willie Mary; daughter, Saundra Cooper; son, Richard (Skip) Williams; and brother, Edward (Bobo) Cross. Rudolph retired from Newport News Shipbuilding and was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, Mahan Street, Suffolk, VA. He was a faithful member of Prince Hall Masonic Lodge #231 Star Sharon and the Suffolk Booster Club. He leaves to cherish his memories and legacy, his children, Rudolph Jr. (Phyllis) of Rockledge, Florida; Sheryl Hutchinson of Norfolk, VA; Miles Cross of Portsmouth, VA; and Tony Green of Suffolk, VA; daughter-in-law (Cathy Williams); sisters, Marion Parker and Joan Haskins (Roy); a brother, Nathaniel Cross (Wanda); sisters-in-law; Doretha Holland and Janice Parker; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends, Bobby Boone and Joseph Powell. Jesus thank you for the gift of his presence on this earth for a little while A public viewing will be held 12 Noon - 6:00pm, Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held 11:00am, Monday, August 21, 2023 at First Baptist Church Mahan. Mr. Cross will be laid to rest in Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery.
