Ruby Adel Edwards

Ruby Adel Edwards, 89, of Whaleyville Blvd transitioned Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Concordia/Nansemond Pointe. She was the daughter of the late Minnie and Henry Langston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Edwards; two daughters, Jaqueline Hillard and Joyce Edwards; three sons, Melvin Edwards, Leon Edwards, and Thomas Edwards; five sisters, Nora Dildy, Rosa Howell, Annie Wiggins, Dorthy Langston, and Ruth Boone; three brothers, Roland Langston, Henry Langston, and Frank Langston.Affectionately known as "key", she had a tremendous love for family and helped raise all 37 grandchildren and most of her great-grandchildren. She loved to shop and wear stylish hats. She also loved to listen to her gospel music and have family gatherings.She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Eloise Knight of Suffolk; two sons, Timothy Edwards of Franklin and Glenn Edwards of Suffolk; sister, Evelyn Collins (William); sister-in-law, Ethel Langston; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, cousins and friends.A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at Palm Tree Baptist Church, 8165 Whaleyville Blvd, Pastor Anthony Sommerville will deliver the message of comfort.
