Rosemary Holmes

October 10, 1947 — December 11, 2021

Mother Rosemary Holmes was the youngest child born to Carrie Golden and Annie Davis on October 10, 1947. She was born in Queens, New York and later moved to the Bronx where she met her future husband, James Holmes. They were soon married, with 4 children being born from their union. They then moved to Suffolk, Virginia a few years later. She worked as a cafeteria worker at CES Elementary School in New York for 30 years. Mother Holmes was a kind woman who was willing to help anyone in need. She was an awesome mother and a good friend. She also loved to go to church, as she attended and was a member of The Divine Church of Deliverance and Transformation Holiness in Suffolk, Va. Mother Holmes departed this life on December 11th, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Holmes, her daughter, Kim Holmes, her three brothers and three sisters. She leaves behind to cherish her memories her son, Shawn A. Holmes of Suffolk, Va; her two daughters, Cory C. Holmes of Suffolk, Va and Brandy C. Holmes Stewart of Suffolk, Va.; eight grandchildren, Jamal K. Holmes, Dorian M. McLaughlin, Menkel K. McLaughlin, Kyrese N. Holmes, Shonez D. Holmes, Amirai Baraka Stewart Jr., Amarah Emoni Stewart and Ameya Shirley-Rose Stewart; great-grandchildren, Ajuwan K. Holmes, Zonnique Holmes-Fret, Tynesha Boone, Dreem M. White, Storm J. White, Dalonni A. Ervin, Kennedi L. McLaughin, Sommera T. Boone, Imani A. Boone and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A celebration of life will be held noon Saturday, December 18, 2021 at The Divine Church of Deliverance and Transformation Holiness, 6315 Whaleyville Road, Suffolk, Virginia. Chief Apostle Brian E. Outlaw, Sr. D.D will deliver the message of comfort. She will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
