Life Book and Legacy of Rosa Lee Brown
Rosa Lee was born on April 12, 1936, in Driver, never forgetting her roots there. She carried the love of her hometown of Driver throughout her life, staying close to the family and friends she grew up with. From the very beginning, her life reflected a quiet grace that touched everyone around her. Softspoken yet unwavering in spirit, she lived with a profound faith in Jesus Christ that shaped her character, her choices, and her service.
She was married to Richard Thomas Brown Jr., and after their union she began her Christian journey within the Apostolic Faith under the leadership of Bishop Richard T. Brown Sr. Her walk with God continued as she later attended Solid Rock Church of the Apostolic Faith, where her faith deepened and her service to the Lord grew. She faithfully served as a church trustee, was a devoted member of the senior church choir, and was also a dedicated member of the missionary board in the church. Her love for young people inspired her to teach them Christian principles from the Bible, guiding them with patience, wisdom, and a genuine desire to see them grow in the Lord. Through every season of her life, Rosa Lee remained a devoted servant of the Lord—faithful, humble, and steadfast.
Rosa Lee was gifted with her hands and loved to sew. She delighted in sharing stories of the many homes where she had made beautiful draperies, each stitch crafted with care and pride. She later brought that same dedication to American Cemetery Supplies, where she created awning coverings for funeral homes. She loved the people she worked with; they were her family away from home. To her, work was never simply a job, it was a place where she found comfort, purpose, and joy. She performed every task with quiet excellence and heartfelt commitment.
On Thursday, May 14, 2026, in the cool of the early morning, Rosa Lee Brown heard the voice of God when He summoned her from labor to reward and called her to eternal life. Just as the words of 2 Timothy remind us, she fought a good fight—not with noise or striving, but with humility, kindness, and a steadfast trust in her Savior. She finished her course with dignity, pouring her heart into serving others and honoring God in all she did.
Her family meant everything to her. She cherished them deeply, carrying each one in her heart and prayers. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Richard Thomas Brown Jr., her dear son, Charlie Lee Brown, and her loving mother, Eugenia Eason, all of whom preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children: Deborah Brown (Melvin), Dorris Goldston (Larry), Alvin Brown, and JoAnn Mitchell (Allen); her granddaughter whom she lovingly raised, Melinda Anderson (Luther); 12 grandchildren, 32 greatgrandchildren, and 2 greatgreatgrandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special family friend, Gail Phillips, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
Rosa Lee was blessed with devoted care during her illness. Her cousin and loving friend, Christine Eason, stood faithfully by her side, caring for her with tenderness and compassion. Christine was with her on that cool early morning when the Lord called Rosa Lee home.
And through every season, Rosa Lee kept the faith. Her quiet strength, her servant’s heart, and her deep love for the Lord leave a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
Now she rests in the presence of the One she loved so dearly, receiving the crown of righteousness prepared for those who walk faithfully with Christ. Though we feel the weight of her absence, we rejoice in knowing she has entered into perfect peace, embraced by her Savior and rewarded for a life well lived.
