Ronnelle Ames of Suffolk, VA was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 1:43 a.m. He was born November 9, 1953 in Norfolk, VA. He was the fifth child of the late Leroy Ames, Sr. and Edna P. Ames. On August 7, 1993, he married his wife of 33 years Theresa N. Ames.
He was educated in the Norfolk Public School System. Afterward he started his career at Glob Iron Construction Company in Norfolk, VA. (Supplied Steel Beams for the Pentagon in Arlington, VA, Navy Ships and Submarines. Later he retired from Newport News Shipbuilding after 49 years of service.
He was a devoted member of Tabernacle Christian Church, under the leadership of Bishop Carlton R. Upton, Sr. He as appointed to be an Honorary Armor Bearer. He expressed wanting to protect Bishop from any unnecessary distractions and provide physical security if needed. He was extremely vocal when expressing his intentions. He was dedicated to supporting our Bishop.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving and devoted wife Theresa 33 years of blissful marriage; son, Andre' Norfus (Takenya); daughter, Chevon Ames; three sisters, Eunice Shands of Baltimore, MD, Frances Love (Dexter) of Niceville, FL, Shirley Clayton of Upper Marlboro, MD; three brothers, Leroy Ames, Jr. (Reva) of Ft. Worth, TX, Robert Ames(Delores) of Norfolk, Va and Charles Ames of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren, Adriana Norfus, Andre' Norfus, Jr and Tianna Carter; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A public viewing will be held 4-7pm, Thursday, August 27, 2026 at Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held 11:00am, Friday, August 28, 2026 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. Mr. Ames will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family has entrusted Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. with services rendered with dignity, compassion, and care.

Also Sentara Obici Oncology Dept., Dr. Cynthia Sile, The Hospice Staff (Wingover, VA), his CNA Rebekah Russell as well as Mr. Keith Melton a supervisor of Newport News Shipbuilding.
