Ronald “Bigboy” David Richardson, 42, transitioned Monday, August 21, 2023. He was born in Bay Shore, Long Island, New York on May 18, 1981, to Debra Richardson and Ronald Richardson. He was preceded in death by father Ronald Richardson, great grandmother Audrey Moore, grandmother Cecilia Richardson, grandfathers Richard Richardson and Samuel Wright Jr., and uncle Kevin Richardson. At an early age, the family moved to Suffolk, Virginia where Ronald developed long term friendships and relationships. He attended Job Corp at Old Dominion in Lynchburg, VA and received his GED in 2001. He obtained his CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) Certificate from the STOP Organization in 2007. Ronald was known as the “jokester” of the family. He knew how to make you laugh and smile. He loved coaching football, spending time with friends and family and taking care of everyone. “Bigboy” loved the kids. He coached Pop Warner for the Suffolk Steelers for 7 years and did 1 year with the Titans. He then coached middle school football at Kings Fork Middle for 2 years. After that, he coached at Lakeland High School for 4 years, 3 of which he was the Linebackers and Defensive Coordinator Coach. During his tenure at Lakeland High School, he coached and lead them to a Regional Championship season against Phoebus High School. He left Lakeland and coached at Kings Fork High School for 3 years. He touched the lives of many children throughout his coaching career. Through his influence, he helped many children stay out of trouble and finish school. Some even went to college to play football. Ronald leaves to cherish his unforgettable memories: his mother Debra Richardson, grandmother Eleanor Young, son Tariq Rawlings, stepson Natouris Knight, sisters Monique Richardson (Leaunder Sr.), Ivory Watford (Bryan), and Kaneisha (Andre), brothers Harvey Wiggins Jr., Shawn Wiggins (Shalaria), Tobias Hicks (April), and William Copeland, nephews Daijon Richardson, Leaunder Blow Jr. and Xavier Johnson, great nephew Zaidyn Richardson, aunts Patricia Stewart (Mark), Paula Sullivan (Michael) and Fontilla Richardson, uncles Samuel Wright III, Roger Richardson and Charles Richardson, cousins Rockelle Richardson, Kyris Perry (Eric), Carl Richardson, Charles Richardson, Dante Richardson, Dondre Richardson, Lindsay Stewart, Joseph Stewart; a host of family, “boonts”, and friends; and a cousin/brother Charles “Cliffy” Hicks.
