Roger Newby

Roger Newby, 73, of Ivor Virginia passed away Thursday morning, January 6, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born January 5, 1949, in Surry County, VA, he was the son of the late Gerald Newby and Elizabeth Newby. Roger Newby is survived by his loving and cherished wife of 46 years Dorene Newby, along with three children; Roger Newby Jr of Waverly, Virginia, Quatrell Newby of Ivor, Virginia, and Catres Hobbs of Temple, Georgia; three grandchildren, Tykiera Newby, Dezarae Newby, and Aleysha Newby; brothers, Gerald Newby Jr of Smithfield, Va., Columbus Newby of Ivor, Va., Jackie Newby Sr of Zuni, Va., Jerome Newby of Newport News, VA.; sister, Barbara J. Newby; brother-in-laws, Shelly Crocker of Smithfield, VA., Douglas Crocker of Williamsburg, VA.; sister-in-laws Martha Ann Holloway and Annette Reid of Hampton, VA.; uncle-in-law Thomas L Crocker of Ivor, VA., and many nieces, nephews, and relatives. The family will greet friends from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 16, 2022 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. A graveside celebration will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 17, 2022 at Mt Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery, 14165 Racetrack Rd, Ivor, VA, with Reverend Avis Newby Officiating.
