Robie Lester Walton, Sr.

Robie Lester Walton, Sr., 69, of Custis Road, Suffolk, Virginia transitioned Monday, June 22, 2020 at his residence. He is the son of the late Geneva Walton and Robie Linwood Walton. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Vanessa Moss. He was a graduate of Georgia Tyler High School after which he matriculated to Norfolk State University. He retired from Newport News Shipyard as a Welder after 25 years of faithful and dedicated service. Robie was a member of Chapel Grove UCC in Windsor. He was a member of the Male Chorus, Franklin Community Male Chorus, J.J. Ferguson Mass Choir and sat on the Trustee Board. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Barbara Walton of Suffolk; daughter, Michelle Hearn (Chris) of Suffolk; son, Robie L. Walton Jr. (Rashonda); two brothers, Joel Walton (Linda) of Windsor and Tony Walton (Wendy) of Windsor, VA; brother-in-law, Pete Moss of Chesapeake, VA; six grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Chapel Grove UCC, 7366 W. Blackwater Road. Rev. H. Carlyle Church, Jr. will deliver the message of comfort.
