Minister Roberta B. Wilson, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, auntie, educator, and friend, affectionately known as “Bae Bae,” peacefully departed this life on July 13, 2025. Born September 30, 1943, to Easter Blow and Holly Ricks Blow, in Southampton County, VA. She was joined in holy matrimony to Wilburn Wilson Jr., of Memphis, Tennessee. To this union were born two daughters, Michelle (Travis) and Keisha (Alger).
Roberta graduated from Georgia Tyler High School in Windsor, VA. After high school, she entered St. Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, VA, to become a teacher. While at St. Paul’s College, she was initiated as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Upon graduation, she became a teacher in Gretna, VA. After she obtained her BS degree, she continued to further her education at Virginia State University and Old Dominion University. After having her children, Roberta decided to officially enrolled in Norfolk State University and received her Masters in Urban Education and Guidance Counseling. Throughout her 34 years of teaching, she taught at (Old)King’s Fork Elementary, Driver Elementary School, Suffolk High School, and Lakeland High School. She served as Department chairperson of the Social Studies Department, was Teacher of the Year, and worked on numerous curriculum development committees for the Suffolk Public School system. Additionally, she was a faithful member of Suffolk Retired Teachers Association.
She encouraged her students to excel and achieve their own greatness. Her role as an educator, mentor and confidant extended beyond the classroom to many fellow educators whose lives she greatly impacted. Minister Roberta has been a member of Shiloh Baptist Church Windsor, VA. since early childhood. She was a faithful and devoted Associate Minister of Shiloh Baptist Church, delivering her initial sermon in September 2002. As an anointed woman of God, minister Wilson’s ministry was one of sound doctrine. Truly, she was not ashamed of the gospel, for the Lord “Ordered Her Steps” her favorite song that she sang so beautifully. She knew that it was the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes. Minister Wilson served in the following ministries: Deaconess, Missionary, Christian Support Ministry, Gospel Choir, New Members Class, VBS, Bible Study Teacher. She also established Children’s Church Ministry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Wilson, Jr.
She leaves love and memories with her daughters Michelle (Travis); Keisha (Alger); sister Irene B. Littlejohn; three grandchildren, Jasmine, Janelle and Kiersten; adopted daughter Dameron (Cle) Jones, God-son Josiah Allen and Son in Christ Marvin Harper and daughter in Christ Elonka Butler. Also left to cherish her memories are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Whether she was with family, school or at church, Roberta offered her wisdom, love and unwavering support to all mankind! The life of Minister Roberta B. Wilson is not measured in years, but with the footprints that she leaves in other people’s lives, thoughts and hearts.

Her viewing will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, 11a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, 9000 Fire Tower Rd, Windsor, VA 23487. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. Professional services with dignity has been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
