Robert Michael "Bobby" Bailey, son of the late William and Caroline Bailey was called home to be with his Heavenly father on January 20, 2023. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas Bailey and Caroline Mills Bailey; sisters, Louise Bailey Davis and Betty Eloise Dooley; and brother, William Lenton "Billy" Bailey. Bobby was born November 20, 1953 in Whaleyville, Virginia. He attended Robertson Elementary School and Southwestern High School. At an early age, he was baptized and attended Mineral Springs Baptist Church. Bobby was drafted into the United States Army and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. After serving in the military, he returned home where he worked as a landscape and carpenter. Bobby was a handyman and loved working with his hands. He could fix just about anything. Bobby was also an avid gardener and would work in his yard from sun up til sun down. Bobby enjoyed growing vegetables for which he would sell at his vegetable stand or gift to his family. Bobby was very family oriented and enjoyed spending time with his family. Bobby leaves to cherish his memories a daughter, Altonetta Bailey; granddaughters, Breuana Kendall and Jesseca Williams; sisters, Lilian Bailey Tyler, Audrey Bailey Bolden (Mckenzie), Jacqueline Bailey Jackson, Vernessa Bailey Booth and Sheila O. Bailey; brother, Thomas Bailey (Danette); aunts, Florine Bailey Parker and Glorine Bailey Struggles; a special friend, Bonita Hansom; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. A memorial celebration will be held noon, Friday, February 3, 2023 at New Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ. Superintendent Gerald Goodman will deliver the message of comfort.
