Robert Earl Hopson

On January 8, 2023, Robert Earl Hopson, 82, of Suffolk, Virginia became a member of God’s Angels. Robert was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. He was born on September 29, 1940 in Suffolk, Virginia. He attended Suffolk Public Schools and was a member of Heaven on Earth Ministries. Robert Earl worked at the Newport News Shipyard for 40 years. Robert Earl was preceded in death by his father, Lester Hopson, mother, Mary Jordan Scott, (3) brothers, Edward Brown, Vernon Hopson, and William Hopson, sister, Doris Stephenson and son, Donald P. Hudgins. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Cora Hopson of Suffolk, VA, (2) sons Robert L. Hopson (Rhonda) of Norfolk, VA and Carl Hopson of Suffolk, VA; daughter Cora Carr of Suffolk, VA; (2) sisters, Barbara Johnson of Suffolk, VA and Della Milteer of Chesapeake, VA; (4) sister-in-law’s Dora Hopson of Suffolk, VA, Jeanette Hopson of Suffolk, VA, Rosa Gibbons of Suffolk, VA, Betty Milteer Knight of Suffolk, VA; (2) brother-in-law’s George Milteer of Chesapeake, VA and Zachariah Milteer (Syroa) of Suffolk, VA; (9) grandchildren, (6) great grandchildren and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A public viewing will be held 1-5pm, Friday, January 13, 2023 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. A celebration of life will be held noon, Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Heaven on Earth Ministries, 810 E. Washington Street, Suffolk. Apostle. Dr. Betty Milteer Knight will deliver the message of comfort. He will be laid to rest in Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery.
