Rev. Burnette Delores Boone of Suffolk departed this life on Wednesday, August 19, 2020. A native of Nansemond County(now Suffolk) born on April 1, 1948. She was the daughter of the late Carey and Virginia Boone. Burnette was educated in public schools. She graduated from East Suffolk High School in 1967. She had retired from Suffolk City School System where she was a teacher for 30 years. She was an Associate Minister of East End Baptist Church. She was a member of Sigma Gamma Rho. She was the director of East End Baptist Day Care until 2014. She was a member of the book club, a member of the Eagles 10 Flag and Mimes Dance Institute in Williamsburg, VA. Rev. Boone was also the director of the Ten VA East Praise Dance Team. She achieved a Masters in Education as well a Masters in Divinity. Burnette touched many lives from all walks of life. She had a special love for children and people in general. She had a giving spirit that was genuine. Her smile was contagious along with a great personality. She was always smiling and worked to help others do the same. She leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Carey Boone, Jr., a sister, Jacqueline Boone; daughter, Lovetta Boone (devoted niece); five grandchildren, R'janae Hawkins, Duntoris Hawkins Jr., Daymarian Hawkins, Anduan Phillips, A'more Phillips (a devoted caretaker) Pamela Gray family and friends. A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at East End Baptist Church. She will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
