On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, Raynor Hearandus Hunter peacefully entered eternal rest with his wife at his side.
He was born November 6, 1949 to the late Schley and Leola Hunter. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Schley (Dick) Hunter and Voight Hunter, one sister, Youlanda F. Williams and one sister-in-law, Lonnie J. Hunter.
He joined Mt. Sinai Baptist Church at an early age and was a faithful member for many years. He loved being a part of the Male Chorus where he was gifted to touch many souls as he sang the songs of Zion. He was fondly called “Skeeter Hawk” by many of his friends. A hunter by nature as he loved to hunt deer and rabbit. Also, thought of himself as an avid fisherman.
Raynor leaves to cherish his memories, his lovely wife of 28 years, Evelyn L. Hunter, his children, Raynor Hunter Jr., Christopher Hunter, Schley Hunter (Monica), Quinton Nealy, Kenya Latham, Sr., Arayna Santos, Ronda Wilmore ( Robert) and Courtney Hunter (Tequan) brothers, Ural Hunter ( Kim), Basil Hunter, and Leo Worthington, sister Bernadette Riddick, mother-in-law J. Elizabeth Ash, brothers-in-law Carlton Ashe, Clarence W. Ash Jr. (Bea) and Gregory Ash (Donna), sisters-in-law, Vernettia Gibbs and Carlia Williams. A special friend Donnie Adkins and a host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2026 from 2-6p.m. in the Melvin Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. Raynor’s celebration of life will be held noon, Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 6100 Holy Neck Rd. Suffolk, Va. 23437. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
