Raymond Almond

Raymond Almond, 71, of Bangor Drive, Chesapeake transitioned Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at his residence at the age of 71 years.Raymond who was known as Ray was born in Gibson, NC on February 6, 1947 to the late Joe Almon and Josephine Almon.Raymond was a graduate of John F. Kennedy high School. He enlisted in the Air Force right after high school. he was a Vietnam Veteran and a retired Electrician for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ernestine S. Almond of Chesapeake; daughter and son, Shamika Almond and Shaun Almond, of Chesapeake and Alexandria, VA; 1 grandchild, Niya S. Hawk; 1 brother, Howard Almond, Sr., of Richmond, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.He was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Almon, Jr. and sister, Kathleen Banks.Raymond was known for his humorous ways and his love for sports, reggae music, and love for family.A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Rising St. James P.H.C.
