Ralph Robinson

Ralph Robinson Jr. was born April 29, 1956, to Dr. Ralph (deceased) and Pearl N. Robinson at Perth Amboy Hospital in New Jersey. Family and friends called him by several nicknames such as Sonny, Sonny Jim, Big Ralph, and Ma Bell.
 
Sonny was very outspoken. Free spirit, loveable, kind, caring, outgoing, funny and there wasn't anyone who didn't know. He attended Matawan Regional High School where he played for the school football team, he ran track and sang in the school choir. After graduating high school, he began his journey in the backwoods of Morganville, N.J. He resided with his grandparents Thomas and Ruby Hunley.
 
Sonny found his passion following the footsteps of his uncles; Uncle Francis, Uncle Thomas, Uncle Harold, and Uncle Tulum, who were all truck drivers. He decided to settle in ATL, GA where he worked for the Coca-Cola Company and ATLANTA Road Development driving trucks. His journey continued to take him to North Carolina where he met and married his wife Mary and divorced years later. There he helped raise two stepchildren Andre and Michelle (both deceased). Sonny loved the Lord, and enjoyed attending his church at St. Paul Holiness church in Zuni, VA. His life changed when was diagnosed with a heart condition which brought him to Suffolk, VA to be near family and friends.
 
He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother Pearl N. Robinson (Matawan, NJ), his sisters Martha L. Holmes (Glen) of Suffolk, VA, Debra A. Debblay (Benjamin) of Suffolk, VA, Donna L. Scales (Gary) of Toms River, NJ, and one brother Sidney Robinson of Matawan, NJ. Sunny raised two stepchildren Andre and Michelle who both are deceased. He leaves five grandchildren, and a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held  noon, Saturday, September 16, 2023 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel. He will be laid to rest in St. Paul Holiness Church Cemetery, Zuni, Virginia. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
