Portia Bell

Mrs. Portia Bell, 71, of Suffolk transitioned Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Evelena Perry. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Eloise Perry. She was a graduate of Crestwood High School and Retired from Norfolk Public Schools as a Custodian. She was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church where she served on the Ushers Board. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Melvin Bell, Sr of Suffolk; two daughters, Pamela D. Bell and Suszanne B. Darden (William,Jr. ) both of Suffolk; three sons, Melvin Bell, Jr. (Karen) of Norfolk, Don D. Bell of Suffolk, and Kalvin C. Bell (Angela) of Portsmouth.; three brothers, Horace Riddick and Joseph Perry both of Chesapeake, and Darnice Perry of Norfolk; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; aunt, Katie Baker, and a host of nieces, nephews, and loved one. Viewing will be held 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2020 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. A gathering will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at New Calvary Baptist Church. She will be laid to rest in Riddick family Cemetery in Chesapeake.
