Pearline Scott Fulgham

February 4, 1935 — June 29, 2025

Suffolk

On Sunday, June 29, 2025, God saw that our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Pearline Fulgham, was getting tired, so He wrapped His loving arms around her and whispered, "Come to Me." Our Matriach job here was done, and we know that our heavenly father does not make mistakes. Pearline Scott Fulgham was born on February 4, 1935, to the late Josephus Scott and Louvenia Diggs Scott in Nansemond County, now part of the City of Suffolk, Virginia.

Pearline was a devoted and dedicated worker for Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Kelsey, where she remained employed until her retirement. Her strong work ethic and quiet strength were evident throughout her life.

At an early age, Pearline accepted Christ and joined Macedonia Baptist Church in Suffolk, VA. She faithfully served her church community as a children's Sunday School teacher—a role she dearly loved. She remained a loyal and active member until her health began to decline.

Pearline found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved watching old movies, game shows, and soap operas, and she especially enjoyed playing Senior Bingo.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence Fulgham, Sr.; her sons, Avlin Fulgham, Larry Darnell Fulgham, and James Fulgham; ten sisters: Ida Mann, Bernice Hill, Daisy Mann, Cecil Pittman, Josephine Bradley, Ada Mays, Kay Pittman, Erma Scott, Lillie Wellon, and Mary Rice; four brothers: Linwood Scott, John, Joe Henry, and Leroy Scott; and one granddaughter, Pearline Fulgham.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Clarence Fulgham, Jr. Suffolk, VA and Joe Lee Fulgham; a bonus son, Arthur Kelsey; two bonus daughters, Joyce and Caroline Kelsey of VA.Beach, Virginia; grandsons, Larry Fulgham, Jr., and Charles Baker; three granddaughters, Christine Fulgham, Quair Stephenson, Sherita Baker, Kayla Stephenson; sister, Alma Wooten, Baltimore, MD; three brothers, James Scott (Patricia) of Florida, William Scott (Brenda) and Jackson Scott of Newport News, VA; brother-in-law, Fletcher Fulgham; four sisters-in-law, Mary Scott of Fayettville, NC., Blondell Scott of Windsor, Va. , Beatrice Fulgham and Brenda Hatten of Suffolk, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Macedonia Baptist Church, 8300 Crittenden Road, Suffolk, Virginia. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
