Pastor William Edmond Golden

March 22, 1939 — January 4, 2020

On January 4, 2020, Pastor William E. Golden of Virginia Beach, VA gained his Wings to be with the Lord.  He was born in Whaleyville, Virginia and attended Nansemond County Public Schools. He also attended the Adult Education Program from 1987-1989 at John F. Kennedy High School, Suffolk, Virginia, where received an outstanding performance award. He is the first-born son of the Late James Henry and Mary White Golden, and the third child of seven siblings. He was also predeceased by his brother, Hersey Golden; sisters, Betty Ann Golden, Christine Golden, and Anna Cardel Porter. Elder Golden was a retired civil service employee of the Department of Navy Publishing and Printing Service, where he received numerous awards and certificates of appreciation for his exhibited dedication to the government. In addition, he received certificates of training for successfully completing all required elective courses for the Printing and Publications Division. He also worked for several other companies: Parker Peanut, Lummis and Golden Kist, and A&P Tea of Suffolk. Elder Golden credited all his accomplishments to the Lord Jesus Christ, who in 1968 changed his life and saved him. He joined Paul’s Temple Holiness Church where he served as deacon.  In 1974, he became one of the founding members, an ordained minister and was the former Assistant Pastor of Inspirational Temple Church, Alexandria, Virginia, under the leadership of the late Bishop Norman A. Parran. In 1993, he was appointed as the Assistant Pastor of Paul’s Temple Holiness Church by the late Bishop Paul Armstrong, under the leadership of Dr. C.B. Skinner. In April 2003, Elder Golden, along with his wife, Elder G. Golden were consecrated and installed as Pastors of Save Thyself Inspirational Ministries by the Late Bishop Lewis E. Hines, Founder of The Way of The Cross, ELIM, Norfolk, VA. On July 22, 2019 Elder Golden became the Pastor of New Paul’s Temple Holiness Church of Deliverance, and installed August 2, 2019. He remained a faithful servant, committed to fulfilling the call of to build the Kingdom Of God until he went home to be with the Lord! He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 50 years, Elder Gertrude (Gigi) Armstrong-Golden; two daughters: Wanda L. Golden and Wendy R. Golden; three sisters: Martha Virginia Ralph, Mary Frances Towns and Ernestine Gracie Wilson; five sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law and host of nieces and nephews. His best friends Jerry Jones, Minister James Thornton, and Bro. Roy Eley. A viewing will be held 3-5:30 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2020 at New Pauls Temple Holiness Church followed by a wake  from 6-8 p.m. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 12, 2020 at New Pauls Temple Holiness Church. He will be entombed in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
