Octavia Ruffin

June 25, 1936 - February 16, 2023 Our beloved mother/matriarch, Mrs. Octavia Anderson Ruffin departed her earthly life on February 16, 2023 at her residence (317 St. James Ave.) She lived at her residence for over 60 years. She was a native of Suffolk, Virginia where she attended East Suffolk Middle School. She was employed by Obici Hospital (during her youth for many years), Planters and Nansemond Suffolk Academy School. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry Clay Anderson Sr. and Octavia White Anderson, her siblings; Henry Clay Anderson Jr., Elliott L. Anderson, Clarence Anderson, Florence Lawrence, Loretta Burgess, Ora Artis, her ex-husband Sylvester T. Ruffin Sr., her son Sylvester T. Ruffin Jr. and two grandsons; Brad Ruffin and Shawn D.Ruffin. Her memories will linger and always be cherished in the hearts of her loved ones; Sylvia D. Hinton, Sabrena A. Frazier (Clemon) Keymah Baht-Yashaahla all of Suffolk, Virginia. Sharon L. Johnson of Yuma, AZ., Stephen C. Ruffin(Pamela) of Portsmouth, Va., her beloved baby sister Marion Wilson (David) of Great Falls, Virginia and a devoted cousin Dorothy Jackson of Suffolk. She also leaves to cherish her memories and legacy; ten grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held noon, Thursday, February 23, 2023 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
