Ms. Bobby Jean Darden

Bobby Jean Darden, age 65, of Suffolk, Virginia, peacefully passed away at her residence on October 10, 2025. Born and raised in Suffolk, Bobby Jean was a lifelong resident of the city she loved. She received her education through Suffolk Public Schools and dedicated over 30 years of faithful service to the City of Suffolk as a custodial worker. Her strong work ethic, quiet strength, and kind spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Bobby Jean had a caring heart and found great joy in working with older individuals and caring for her family. Her compassion and generosity touched the lives of many, and her presence will be deeply missed. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Flossie Mae Darden, and her brother, Leonard Darden, both of Suffolk, Virginia. 

Bobby Jean is survived by a devoted sister, Yvonne Davis-Fagbuyi; her almost-like-a-mother, Helen D. Davis; her brothers, Herbert N. Darden and Denvip Davis (Edith); her stepson, Samuel T. Fagbuyi Jr.; her step-grandson, Samuel T. Fagbuyi III; her step-granddaughter, Arnecia McNelly; and special friends, Nathaniel Blow, Weriely Booth, Dineen Joyner-Mitchell, and Joan Scott. Bobby Jean will be remembered for her dedication, compassion, and unwavering love for her family and community. Her legacy of kindness and service will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. 

The family will receive guests at Crocker Funeral Home on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Melvin Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery in the family plot.“Forever in our hearts; her light will continue to shine.” Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
